About Selected Points

Selected Points can include both Waypoints and Temporary Points and are displayed on the map as red pins.  (Note that not every red pin is necessarily a selected point – tracks may also be configured to display all waypoints or titled waypoints as red pins).

How to Select an Existing Point

• Tap any waypoint item in either the Search results list of waypoints or in a Track’s list of waypoints.

How to Select a New Point

• Long press on the map view at the map location where the waypoint should be located.  These can be either created as Waypoints (displayed as red pins) or as ‘Temporary Points’ (displayed as purple pins).

The selected point will be added to the set of ‘Selected Points’ and will be displayed on the map as a red pin.

About Temporary Points

Temporary Points are always in the set of Selected Points (but the set of Selected Points can also include permanently stored Waypoints as well as Temporary Points).

Temporary Points are not part of a Track or Gazetteer and are not stored permanently.  They will be permanently removed if the app is terminated or if the selected points are cleared.

Temporary Waypoints do not include any information apart from their coordinates.  (eg, no title, no note.)

Create a Temporary Point

• Press-and-hold on the map at the location where the Temporary Point should be created.
• Tap the ‘Temporary Point’ button in the confirmation alert that appears.

Note that if Waypoint Recording is disabled, there will be no confirmation alert and the Temporary Point will be created immediately.

The new Temporary Point will be displayed as a purple pin on the map view with its coordinates displayed in an information bubble.

Display Coordinate of a Temporary Point

• Tap a temporary point to re-display information bubble with its coordinates.

Only one of these information bubbles will be displayed at a time, and tapping on another pin (or elsewhere on the map) will cause the information bubble to disappear.

Move a Temporary Point

• Press-and-hold on the purple pin for the Temporary Point (if the point is not already selected single-tap it first to select it).  The pin will rise upwards a short distance.
• Drag until the pin point is on the desired location on the map and then stop touching.

Temporary points are always draggable and unlike Waypoints they do not require a triple-tap to make them draggable.

Clear All Selected Points (including Selected Waypoints and All Temporary Points)

• Tap the ‘X’ (clear) button in the bottom toolbar of the map view to clear all selected points and remove their pins from the map view.

This will remove all Selected Point pins from the map view.  The waypoints will not be deleted from their tracks.

Clear One Selected Point

• Double-tap the Selected Point pin on the map view.

If the selected point is a temporary point (purple pin) it will be removed immediately and no further steps are required.  If the selected point is a waypoint, then the Waypoint Editor will appear and you can continue with the remaining steps.

• Tap the ‘Deselect’ button in the top navigation bar of the Waypoint Editor.
• Tap the ‘View Map’ item at the bottom right to return to the map view.
