Utility Mobs Guide

“Utility Mobs” are covered in the guide section of the app, but this will go more into detail so everyone can make their cool mobs with ease!

What is it?

A Utility mob is one of those things in Minecraft that is not easily discovered. They are player created mobs using blocks and other items. There are 3 Utility Mobs so far, one of which is a boss.

Snow Golem

The Item Frames are used to demonstrate the recipe in order to avoid spawning; placing these items in the Item Frames will have no results.

Required Items: 2 Snow Blocks, 1 Pumpkin

Stack 2 Snow blocks on top of each other then place the Pumpkin on top. The blocks and pumpkin will now turn into a Snow Golem.

Snow Golems will throw non-damaging snowballs at nearby enemies luring the monsters toward them. Snow Golems make for great distractions but since they do no damage they won’t last long in a fight. However, Snow Golems can damage the Enderman and Ender Dragon with their snowballs seeing as how Water is their weakness.

Iron Golem

Required Items: 4 Iron Blocks, 1 Pumpkin

Place 1 Iron block on the ground then another on top – next place 1 Iron Block on the left and right side of the top block as if they were arms. Finally place the Pumpkin on the top as a head and the Iron Golem will spawn.

Iron Golems are much stronger and durable than the Snow Golems. They do a decent amount of damage when in battle and spawn naturally in NPC villages protecting the town and villagers from hostiles.

Wither (Boss)

This is a player created boss and the only way to obtain a Nether Star is to spawn and kill a Wither.

Items Required: 4 Soul Sand, 3 Wither Skeleton Heads

Considering this is a boss that drops a rare item spawning him is no easy task. Wither Skeleton Heads are found by killing Wither Skeletons in Nether Fortresses in The Nether and will be your main goal and biggest challenge. Soul Sand on the other hand is simple enough to locate and obtain as long as you are well equipped for The Nether.

You will place the 4 Soul Sand Blocks just like the Iron Golem only instead of adding 1 Head you will add the 3 Wither Skeleton Heads on top side by side. When doing this in peaceful mode the Wither will not spawn.

As soon as the Wither spawns he will begin to flash and a health bar will appear filling up from 50% to 100%. At this stage the Wither cannot move, attack or be attacked. I suggest moving away from him, as he will explode once he reaches full health destroying any blocks nearby and damaging any mobs or players in the blast radius.

After the Wither explodes he will begin to fly around shooting you and any other living thing around until he is killed. I would advise you to have at least Iron Armor with enchantments and a Bow and Arrow before spawning a Wither.

But the wither becomes arrow imune when it loses half its health and its fire proof, so how would you kill it after half health?

  4. Riys says:

It flies lower at half health so you can kill it with a sword
