Hello everyone, Antares here, Today I’ll be telling you about the Minecraft Mafia, funny as it sounds, it’s not a funny matter!

Let me tell you what I’ve been seeing in the Minecraft community lately, if you don’t know what a DDOS (denial of service) attack is, I’ll give you a quick description, A DDOS attack is where there are 1 or many people flooding a server to shut it down, or just make it lag! Recently we saw some of that with popular websites targeted for many reasons! (These attacks were done by large groups of hackers!)

What does this have to do with Minecraft? Just this last week I was on a midsized minecraft server maxing out at 90 slots! (They were almost at 90) when BOOM, the server got shut down! (Yes due to DDOS attack) the owner quickly shut the server down to stop any further damage, the server was quickly put back online, and it happened again!

When they started up again, the Owner had figured out who was doing it! (With small servers, it doesn’t take much to take one down) and then the owner started threatening with his own DDOS attack and also to call the baddies ISP (internet service provider) this would defiantly be against almost any companies TOS (terms of services)!

What I’m trying to say is, if you own a server, buying DDOS defense is a good idea! If you are a player out there, understand what some owners are dealing with! If you are an Attacker/terrorist then realize you can get in serious trouble, like getting your internet taken or getting sued for any lost donations and uptime!

But along with all the warnings, it makes me sad! A great game like Minecraft having troubles like this is just uncalled for! But on the other hand there are a lot of money in server donations and YouTube advertising! And anywhere there is money, there is fighting!

Or looking at this from another angle, this could be DDOS defense hiring baddies to create fear in people’s minds, boosting sales greatly! Which would be just dirty on their side! Although I do believe at the beginning of computers and the internet, I think there was a similar situation happening with anti-virus software!

If there is no fear in the people’s minds, why would someone buy it? I just hope someone how this can solved without having another server expense (yes I am a server owner, and it costs enough the way it is!

And last words I would like to say, Hacking can easily ruin your life as well as a lot of others!
