Minecraft in schools? Should it be? In this article we will be looking at some of the reasons Minecraft is in schools, and if it should really be there…

Yesterday my married older sister stopped in, my niece and nephews LOVE to play Minecraft, they ask to play nearly every time they come over… while they were playing, my sister started to show me some pictures of what they (My niece and nephew along with other classmates of theirs) built, in the Minecraft class they were in, my niece built her take on a Zoo that they would have had in the book she was reading, along with other projects they had been doing…

So what? Who cares if Minecraft has combined fun with learning? I definitely care… what Minecraft has done is made a game, where you can learn, and be creative, and also learn to love learning, where a game can be played with friends for true gaming, or can be used to teach kids and grow their creativity. Besides be the modern day building block (name of product excluded), what else has Minecraft done? When I started playing Minecraft, I had a 30 WPM typing speed (if even that) and now I type at 80 WPM+, how? I credit it to Minecraft, I played more multiplayer Minecraft then any other game, and I chatted with people anywhere I played, which means over time, I sped up, a lot…

So creativity, Typing speed, what else has this game done for Us? Well schools use Minecraft to teach in technology class… so I’m guessing it has helped many in overall computer skills… it was also given many people a reason to learn Coding, which means more successful jobs, and more great software, often times coders don’t stop at 1 language they often times learn a few more, and make it into a career… (The reason (if you don’t know) is that Minecraft is a game that is easy to build on top of, but you need to learn Java to do so…) 1 more thing it has done, is Youtube, it has given a few others the chance to make a career out of doing things they love, by playing games, or making things, and recording it, to upload to Youtube…

I hope you enjoyed my article…
