I used Red Wool and Quartz Block for this build.

Place two Red Wool on either side of a Quartz Block. Set two upside down Quartz Stairs on both sides of the Red Wool.

From the Stairs place two more upside down stairs going upward.

You should have three sets of upside down stairs on both sides. Now place two sets of stairs upright on top of the upside down stairs.

Next build up both sides three blocks high with Red Wool.

Repeat the first few steps only in reverse, this will mimic the design which should look like a giant ring.

On the middle Red Wool block place another Red Wool followed by two Clay Blocks, stick some buttons on the ends.

On the other side of the ring place a Quartz Block and then a Black Wool Block.

In the center of the ring place three Red Wool blocks on both sides as if they will meet in the middle. There should be a 1-block space between them; if you do not have a 1-block space between the blocks then your ring dimension is wrong.

On the Clay Block side of the ring you want to come out two blocks with Red Wool then canny corner two more Red Wool blocks from there.

Fill in the space with Quartz Blocks, place two Black Wool blocks on the end with some Buttons.

Underneath the Black Wool you will place some Quartz Slabs, each Slab should extend 3 blocks inward. So you should have two rows of 3 Slabs underneath this section.

On top of the Black Wool place some Stairs facing outward. Next connect another set of stairs behind those. They should merge together like shown below. You will place another set of stairs next to the second set.

In font of the stairs you will place two more Quartz Slabs and some Glass in between the stairs.

Back where the Black Wool is you need to place an upside down Quartz Stair to close the gap for the cockpit.

On the other side of the ring place an upside down Quartz Stair and a Slab.

The end result should look like the image below. You can easily change the color of the ship by replacing all the Red Wool with a different Wool type.
